被碰到后,刺激信号会很快传到叶枕。叶枕部分细胞把离子排出去,水跟着流走,细胞的压力变小,像泄了气的小水袋;叶枕失去支撑,叶片就合上、叶柄也会下垂。过一会儿,细胞重新吸水,叶片又慢慢打开。
Where a mimosa leaflet meets its stalk is a swollen pulvinus, with cells like many small water bags full of water. Usually these cells are full and the leaf is held open. After being touched, the stimulus signal quickly reaches the pulvinus. Some cells there pump out ions, water follows and leaves, the cell pressure drops, like a deflated water bag; the pulvinus loses support and the leaflet closes while the stalk droops. After a while the cells take in water again and the leaf slowly reopens.
