Meanwhile, where clouds form, there are often updrafts. Warm air rises, carrying water vapor that cools and condenses into tiny droplets. These updrafts push the droplets upward, counteracting their downward tendency. So clouds aren't immune to gravity — the droplets just fall very slowly and are held up by air currents, making them appear to “float” in the sky.
