也有人以为：流眼泪就是眼睛进水了。更准确地说，是眼睛附近的泪腺在制造眼泪，然后眼泪铺到眼球表面，多余的会从泪点流进鼻腔。如果一下子产生太多，排水口来不及收，就会从眼眶边流出来。

当眼睛被风、烟、洋葱味、灰尘刺激时，神经会告诉泪腺：“快冲洗！”于是眼泪变多。伤心、激动、疼痛时，大脑也会通过神经信号影响泪腺，让眼泪像开闸一样流出来。

Normally only a little is made, and blinking spreads it evenly. Extra tears go from small holes near the eye corner, the tear points, into the nasolacrimal duct and finally to the nose. So when crying hard, the nose also runs. It is not the nose suddenly working overtime, but tears going there too. When the eye is stimulated by wind, smoke, onion smell, or dust, nerves tell the glands: flush now! So tears increase. When sad, excited, or in pain, the brain also affects the glands through nerve signals, letting tears flow like opening a gate.
